The Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Nasarawa State and head of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Hon. Danlami Musa Mohammed, has firmly declared that he remains the party’s authentic and legally recognized governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.

Danlami made this known during a press briefing in Lafia on Saturday, responding to what he termed a "political jamboree" held earlier that day at the TAAL Conference Hotel. At that gathering, the name of one Musa Adamu Angba was reportedly replaced with that of former Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu (rtd.), as the SDP's flagbearer.

While he initially chose to ignore the event, Danlami said the flood of calls from party faithful, supporters, and well-wishers seeking clarity compelled him to speak out.

"Truth is like smoke no matter how long it is suppressed or buried underground, it will always resurface," he stated, urging members to remain calm and assured that there is no cause for alarm.

Danlami emphasized that he possesses substantial documentary evidence proving his emergence as the SDP candidate through a valid primary election conducted on May 23, 2026, at the party's state secretariat along Jos Road, Lafia. He noted that the exercise was fully compliant with the Electoral Act and was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

However, he expressed concern over what he described as INEC's contradictory stance, accusing the commission of "blowing hot and cold from the same mouth" regarding the party's candidacy. He warned that any action undermining the duly conducted primary would be legally challenged.

Danlami also questioned the logic behind replacing Angba who, he insisted, never participated in the governorship primary with the retired IGP. "You cannot place something on nothing and expect it to stand," he said, invoking the enduring legal maxim.

He reassured SDP members, supporters, and stakeholders across the state to remain peaceful and steadfast, vowing that appropriate legal measures would be pursued to seek redress in court.

"I remain the authentic and legal SDP governorship candidate for Nasarawa State until a lawful determination says otherwise," Danlami declared.
