The Nigeria For Women Program Scale-Up Project (NFWP-SU) has intensified its grassroots implementation efforts in Nasarawa Local Government Area through a comprehensive two-day monitoring exercise and quarterly review meeting for Ward Facilitators.

The initiative, which covered all 15 electoral wards across Loko, Mararaba Udege, and Nasarawa Town, was designed to assess field performance, provide technical support, and strengthen the capacity of frontline implementers.

Mr. Temitope Ayodele, Senior Technical Advisor for the NFWP Scale-Up in Nasarawa State, described the exercise as crucial for generating field-based feedback to improve project delivery. "The Nigeria for Women Programme is a community-driven initiative that empowers women to identify opportunities, develop savings culture, acquire financial literacy, and improve their livelihoods through collective action," he stated.

According to Ayodele, the monitoring will enhance the quality of Women Affinity Group (WAG) formation and management, enabling groups to access government interventions and other development opportunities.

Hajiya Halima Shittu Yusuf, the State Project Coordinator, urged Ward Facilitators to strictly adhere to operational guidelines in forming and managing Women Affinity Groups. She emphasized that the quarterly review meeting serves as a vital platform for strengthening facilitators' knowledge and implementation capacity at the grassroots level.

"The exercise has improved facilitators' capacity in loan repayment processes, WAG management, field reporting, and compliance with implementation guidelines," Hajiya Halima noted, charging facilitators to ensure WAG members comply with approved project methodologies to promote transparency and sustainability.

Ward Facilitators who participated in the review meeting expressed appreciation for the new ideas and knowledge gained, describing the exercise as insightful and impactful. They pledged to apply the lessons learned in the formation and effective management of their respective women affinity groups.

The monitoring and quarterly review reaffirms the programme's commitment to strengthening grassroots structures and advancing women's economic empowerment across communities in Nasarawa State.
