Southern Kaduna Widows Receive Food Relief from Senator Katung Amidst Rising Costs

By: Abubakar Labaran

The Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Barrister Sunday Marshall Katung, has donated bags of rice to widows across his constituency.

Distributing the rice to beneficiaries at the Senator’s Zonal Office in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, his campaign women leader, Honourable Nah Gambo, noted that the Senator has carried out several rice and food distributions for widows across Southern Kaduna because he has not forgotten them.

Gambo stated that Senator Katung believes leadership is measured by care for the most vulnerable in society. She added that the rice is a small token to ease the hardship many widows face due to the rising cost of living, and to let them know they are remembered and valued.

She said Senator Katung asked her to tell the widows to remain strong and hopeful, reiterating his commitment to standing with widows and vulnerable families across Southern Kaduna. “This will not be the last time,” she assured them.

“Please keep him in your prayers, and pray for peace in our land. May God bless you and multiply what you have received. On behalf of Senator Katung, I encourage you to use this support wisely. We will continue to bring your voices to him. Thank you, and may God bless the Senator for remembering us today,” she concluded.

Also speaking at the event, Honourable Mrs. Lucy Nickaf, the initiator of the widows’ forum, said she was happy to stand before the widows and tell them that Senator Katung believes in their strength and resilience. She called his kind gesture a reminder that they are not alone, and that their children and future matter to him.

She observed that the distribution is part of his yearly commitment to reaching out to orphans, widows, and the less privileged during important seasons. She then urged the widows to continue praying for and supporting the Senator toward meaningful development and unity in Southern Kaduna, stressing that only with peace can the zone progress.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Hannatu Bossan expressed gratitude to the Senator for remembering widows in his constituency, standing with them in their time of need, and for the timely support that has brought relief to many households.
