Southern Kaduna Lawyers Hail Senator Katung’s Performance, Pledge Support

Members of the Southern Kaduna Legal Committee have expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Barrister Sunday Marshall Katung.

The satisfaction was voiced by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Sam Atung, while speaking to journalists yesterday shortly after a closed-door meeting between members of the Southern Kaduna legal community and the senator. The meeting took place at the Kafanchan High Court.

Atung said the lawyers’ gathering was a show of support for the senator’s leadership, stressing that his performance in the National Assembly had justified public confidence.

“Absolutely, we are satisfied, and that is why we have come out in our numbers to identify with him,” Atung said.

According to him, politics is largely about governance and resource allocation, adding that effective representation requires strategic engagement at the national level. He noted that in the context of Southern Kaduna, constituents need a senator with wide reach and strong national influence, capable of attracting development projects.

“In Southern Kaduna, politics is local. We need a senator who is well exposed, a national team player, someone who understands where to press the right buttons so that the dividends of democracy can accrue to our people,” he added.

Atung described the current political moment as significant for the region, stressing that decisions taken ahead of 2027 would be consequential.

“For us as a people, this is going to be one of the most significant political periods of our lifetime,” he said.

He commended Senator Katung for facilitating key federal projects in the district, including the establishment of a federal university, which he said was initiated through a bill sponsored by the senator and subsequently assented to by the President.

“Today, we are proud owners of a federal university in our senatorial district. This is a major milestone,” he said.
