Pro-Group Drops N50m for Plateau Governor’s 2027 Reelection Bid, Empowers Vulnerable Residents

The Renewed Hope Advocates have donated N50 million to support the purchase of the APC 2027 gubernatorial nomination and expression of interest forms for Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.

The donation was announced on Thursday in Jos shortly after the inauguration of the group’s National Executive Committee, led by its National Chairperson, Barr. Beatrice C. J. Dakas.

In addition to the political support, the group also extended financial assistance to people living with disabilities and other vulnerable individuals, as part of its commitment to social welfare and inclusive development.

Members of the group described the gesture as a demonstration of their confidence in the governor’s leadership and their commitment to the continuity of his administration beyond 2027.

While receiving the donation for onward presentation to Governor Mutfwang, Plateau State Deputy Governor, Ngo Josephine Piyo, called for greater inclusion of women in political leadership, stressing that their participation is critical to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.

Piyo, who represented Governor Mutfwang, commended members of the group for their dedication to unity, peace, and national development, describing the event as "a significant moment that reflects citizens’ dedication to a better future."

"I am not referring to material provisions, but to the people—their dedication, their time, and their belief in a better future," she said.

The deputy governor, however, expressed concern over the low representation of women in the newly inaugurated executive, urging the group to correct the imbalance.

"Women are critical stakeholders in our society and must be adequately included in leadership and decision-making processes. Inclusive participation strengthens our democracy," she stated.

Piyo emphasized that democracy thrives on peaceful participation and constructive engagement, noting that the movement signals growing support for economic renewal, peacebuilding, and inclusive governance. She urged members to build bridges across communities and remain connected to grassroots aspirations.

"Leadership must respond to the needs of the farmer in the village, the trader in the market, the youth seeking opportunities, and the women driving enterprise," she added.

Chairman of the occasion, Sen. Simon Bako Lalong, represented by Prof. Danladi Atu, called for unity and discipline among supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that collective effort is key to success.

"2027 is not just about winning, but about how well we win," Atu said, urging members to pursue total electoral victory. He reaffirmed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Mutfwang, calling on members to remain focused and committed.

In a related address, Hon. Solomon Shitnaan, representing the Director-General of the Tinubu Support Group, Umar Yakassai, congratulated the Renewed Hope Advocates on their inauguration. Yakassai described the event as a milestone, noting that it included the endorsement of President Tinubu and Governor Mutfwang, as well as empowerment initiatives for widows and persons living with disabilities.

"The endorsement of President Tinubu reflects strong confidence in his Renewed Hope agenda," he said. He commended the group’s commitment to grassroots mobilisation and inclusive development, urging members to sustain unity and collaboration.

"Let this inauguration mark the beginning of greater accomplishments, stronger collaboration, and meaningful impact within our communities," he added.
