Kaduna South APC Aspirant Steps Down, Throws Weight Behind Senator Katung’s Re-election

A former aspirant for the Kaduna South Senatorial District seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engineer Joseph Ciroma Almajiri, has officially withdrawn from the race and declared his support for the incumbent senator, Sunday Marshall Katung.

Joseph, popularly known as “Hasken Southern Kaduna,” announced his decision on Monday following what he described as extensive consultations with family members, political associates, community leaders, and supporters across the district.

The engineer said the move was driven by “patriotism, team spirit, political maturity, and strategic foresight,” stressing the need to preserve unity within the APC in Southern Kaduna. According to him, his long-standing relationship with Senator Katung spanning over three decades played a significant role in his decision.

“I have decided to step down from my aspiration and throw my full support behind the incumbent Distinguished Senator, Sunday Marshall Katung, in his quest for a second term,” Joseph said.

He noted that the decision was also informed by the need to consolidate ongoing development efforts in the district, citing projects such as the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia and the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan. Joseph commended the administrations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, as well as Senator Katung’s representation, for what he called “people-oriented interventions” across Southern Kaduna.

Joseph expressed gratitude to his supporters for their loyalty and encouragement throughout his political journey, assuring them that their sacrifices would not be in vain. He further called on them to rally behind Katung to ensure a successful second-term bid, and reaffirmed his commitment to the APC while continuing his humanitarian and philanthropic activities across the district.
