The Southern Kaduna Trailblazing Women Association (SOKATWA) has called on all women in the region who are yet to register as voters to take advantage of the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) registration exercise before the deadline.

In a statement issued earlier this week, the Association's President, Mrs. Belinda Augustine Istifanus, appealed to women residing in urban areas to transfer their voting locations back to their respective communities in Southern Kaduna. According to her, this strategic move would help consolidate the region’s voting strength.

Mrs. Istifanus emphasized that a woman’s vote is her power and a vital tool in shaping the future of society. As the 2027 general elections draw closer, she noted that SOKATWA is urging women not to be left out in determining the direction of the nation.

"With women forming a significant percentage of the voting population in Nigeria, it is important to sustain and strengthen this numerical advantage by actively participating in the electoral process and voting for credible leadership," she said.

The statement, which was made available to newsmen by the Association’s Secretary, Mrs. Grace John Zomo, further encouraged women to make necessary arrangements, including traveling to their hometowns during elections, to ensure they exercise their civic rights.

Mrs. Istifanus stressed that SOKATWA is reiterating the importance of active participation in democracy and called on more women to step forward and contest elective positions. According to her, the association is ready to support and mobilize for women candidates who are willing to serve.

She added that women were encouraged to join political parties and engage actively in political processes so their voices can be heard where decisions are made.

As the 2027 elections approach, SOKATWA reaffirmed its commitment to mobilizing women across Southern Kaduna to speak with one voice and play a decisive role in shaping the future.
