Jema’a Local Government Chairman Launches Digital Hub, Pledges Support for Youth and Women in Tech

The Chairman of Jema’a Local Government Area, Mr. Peter Tanko Dogara, has commissioned the Bayan Loko Albarka Connectivity Hub in Kafanchan, praising the collaborative efforts of the UK Government and the Fantswam Foundation in bringing the project to fruition.

During the commissioning ceremony, Dogara emphasized that the hub aligns with Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani’s agenda for skills acquisition and youth empowerment. He announced a donation of ₦500,000 to support the project’s launch and assured continued backing from the local government council.

Dogara also urged potential beneficiaries, especially youth and women, to take full advantage of the facility to build digital skills for improved employability and entrepreneurship.

Earlier, Osondu Nwokoro, Director of the Initiative for Digital Inclusion at the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (UK), explained that the hub is designed to equip women and youth with essential ICT skills, fostering self-reliance in the digital economy. He noted that Fantswam was selected as one of ten communities to benefit from the initiative, crediting Dr. John Dada of the Fantswam Foundation for his visionary community development efforts.

In his remarks, Dr. Josiah Kantyok, representing the Agwam Zikpak, commended Dr. Dada’s impactful contributions to the Fantswam community. Mr. Bala Makoshi, Chairman of the Bayan Loko Development Association, also praised Dada’s dedication to grassroots progress.

Comfort Kazanka, Chief Executive Officer of Fantswam Foundation, in her welcome address, stated that the digital training program will run for one year. She called for sustained stakeholder support to ensure its long-term success and broader community impact.
