The Executive Chairman of Jema’a Local Government Area, Honourable Peter Tanko Dogara, has commended Senator representing Southern Kaduna, Barrister Sunday Marshall Katung, for his commitment to improving healthcare delivery in the zone.

The Chairman gave the commendation during an assessment tour of Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Memorial Hospital, Kafanchan, facilitated by the Senator in partnership with Project C.U.R.E., a United States-based humanitarian organisation.

Hon. Dogara described the visit as a historic milestone, noting that it marked the first time an international organisation had conducted a comprehensive needs assessment of the hospital with a view to supporting its revitalisation.

“This support will significantly boost healthcare delivery and accelerate development in this facility. It opens a new chapter for health services in Jema’a Local Government,” he said.

Expressing optimism that the intervention would enhance infrastructure and service delivery at the hospital, the Chairman thanked the Senator for initiating the partnership and the organisation for selecting Jema’a as a beneficiary.

Earlier, Senator Katung explained that his decision to collaborate with C.U.R.E. was driven by the urgent need to improve access to quality healthcare in his constituency.

He noted that many health facilities in the area are unable to function optimally due to a lack of modern equipment, forcing residents to travel long distances for treatments that could be administered locally.

“Government cannot do it alone. As a Senator, it is my responsibility to facilitate interventions that directly impact the well-being of my people,” he said.

Also speaking, Nurse Rose Policarp of C.U.R.E. commended the Senator for the partnership, revealing that the organisation is committing millions of dollars toward the shipment of medical equipment to hospitals in his constituency. She praised the dedication of Nigerian medical personnel, who she said continue to deliver care under challenging conditions without adequate tools.

Elder Dare Akau also lauded the intervention, describing it as timely and necessary. He expressed confidence that the support would significantly ease the difficulties caused by a lack of essential healthcare instruments in the area.

The visit is expected to pave the way for the delivery of critical medical supplies and equipment, strengthening healthcare delivery across Jema’a LGA and beyond.
