ICPC Searches Home of Ex-Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai Amid Corruption Probe

Operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Thursday carried out a search at the residence of former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai.

The search was confirmed in a statement by Muyiwa Adekeye, Media Adviser to the former governor. However, legal counsel to El-Rufai, Ubong Akpan, denounced the exercise, calling it “unlawful and a blatant disregard for legal procedures and fundamental human rights.”

The search comes as part of an intensifying investigation into allegations of financial impropriety levelled against El-Rufai during his two terms in office. Reports also indicate that the former governor has been in ICPC custody since Wednesday night, after he was released on administrative bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
