Fire outbreak Razes Four Flats in Jama’a Emir’s Palace

A late-night fire on Friday razed four flats in a section of the palace of the Jama’a Emir, Alhaji Muhammadu Isa Muhammadu, in Kafanchan, headquarters of Jama’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The destroyed apartments were part of a wing occupied by the Emir’s mother, according to sources within the palace.

The fire reportedly started as the family was preparing for Magrib prayers, causing panic among residents and in the surrounding neighbourhood.

The extent of the damage was evident, with parts of the affected building severely burnt and household goods reduced to ashes.

Residents and sympathisers gathered at the palace to express solidarity with the Emir and his family following the incident.

Eyewitnesses reported that personnel from the Kaduna State Fire Service in Kafanchan responded to an emergency call but were unable to immediately contain the blaze, as their pumping machine reportedly failed to start upon arrival.

Sources indicated that this initial setback allowed the fire to spread rapidly, destroying four flats before additional support was mobilised.

Security operatives and local volunteers joined efforts to salvage property and prevent the fire from spreading to other sections of the palace.

No casualties were recorded at the time of this report, though the property damage was substantial.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the extent of the losses or the circumstances surrounding the outbreak.

Residents of Kafanchan have continued to express their condolences to the Emirate, describing the incident as unfortunate and calling for improved emergency response capacity in the area.
