"Stay Out of Our Party": NNPP's Galadima Blasts Tinubu Over Alleged Move to Poach Kwankwaso

Buba Galadima, a prominent figure within the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has publicly condemned what he described as an improper attempt by President Bola Tinubu to influence party loyalties. Galadima’s remarks came in response to circulating reports that Tinubu had directed Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf to encourage NNPP leader Rabiu Kwankwaso to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in an interview with Trust TV, Galadima dismissed the alleged request as misguided and inappropriate. He questioned the logic of expecting Governor Yusuf to persuade Kwankwaso to leave the NNPP, emphasizing that both he and Kwankwaso are focused on building their own party, not joining another.

Galadima stated, “If the president made such a suggestion, then he is in error. Let him be told that I, Buba Galadima, said his approach was wrong. How can he ask Abba to ‘go and bring Kwankwaso’? In the eyes of both Tinubu and Kwankwaso, Abba does not hold such influence.”

The comments underscore the NNPP's firm position on maintaining its independence amid perceived political encroachment from the APC. This exchange occurs against a backdrop of intensifying political maneuvering ahead of the 2027 general elections, with parties vying for alignment and influence.
