By Timescope news Correspondent
Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Langtang North Local Government Area have unanimously endorsed Senator Simon Bako Lalong for re-election to the Plateau South Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement came during a stakeholders’ engagement in Langtang, part of the Senator's ongoing constituency interactions across the Southern Senatorial District.
Addressing the gathering, Senator Lalong briefed party leaders on the state of the APC in Plateau State and detailed his legislative activities and achievements. He thanked the stakeholders for their unwavering support, which he credited for enabling him to attract critical projects and facilitate federal appointments for qualified constituents.
Reaffirming his commitment to equitable development, Lalong promised to ensure all local governments in the district benefit from initiatives aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking on the recent defection of Governor Caleb Mutfwang to the APC, Senator Lalong assured members that no one would be sidelined. He emphasized that the move has President Tinubu’s blessing and aligns with a philosophy of inclusion over division.
He added that ongoing consultations are addressing concerns to ensure new entrants do not displace loyal members who sustained the party through difficult times.
A member of the Elders’ Forum, Gen. Jon Temlong, commended Lalong for his leadership and for creating opportunities for Plateau indigenes, including those from Langtang, to serve at the federal level. He urged the party leadership to prioritize inclusiveness, unity, peace, and justice amid recent political changes.
Other stakeholders also expressed strong support. These included Hon. Zingven Ramnap, Chairman of the Langtang North APC Stakeholders; Abel Gwattau, Chairman of Jos Stakeholders; former Commissioner Hon. Brian Dadi; and Hon. Abel Nimchak, Member representing Langtang North/North. Also present were Hon. Dina Lar, Hon. Daladi Dashe, Hon. Mamzu Zitta, and the APC Chairman for Langtang North.
They passed a vote of confidence in Senator Lalong’s leadership, describing his representation as impactful and beneficial. They expressed optimism that his continued service would accelerate development in areas like power, energy, agriculture, and the establishment of a federal institution in Langtang.
A formal motion endorsing Senator Lalong for a second term was subsequently moved and unanimously adopted.
Earlier in the day, Senator Lalong paid a traditional homage to the Ponzhi Zinni and visited Rev. Sunday Lakong to offer condolences on the death of his son.
