APC Governors Unconcerned About Fubara Impeachment Move, Citing Legal Process – Gov Sule

 

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has stated that governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are not losing sleep over the recent impeachment move against Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Sule, who appeared alongside Fubara on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, acknowledged that while APC governors are generally concerned about political instability affecting a colleague, they are not anxious about Fubara’s removal.

He explained that the impeachment process is tightly governed by law and due process, and that current court interventions have made impeachment unlikely.

“Of course, whatever happens to any of our colleagues, we are worried,” Sule said. “But we are not so concerned to the point of saying he is going to be impeached. From all indications, actions are being taken. Courts are making decisions. The chief judge is taking a position on that. So, for that reason, we are not worried.”

He emphasized the procedural safeguards in place, adding, “You don’t just wake up and impeach somebody without going through the due process.”

The comments come amid ongoing political tension in Rivers State, where the state assembly had earlier initiated impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara before a court order restrained the process.
