MACBAN Leaders in Southern Kaduna Advocate for Peace and Security Cooperation

Kafanchan, Kaduna state - Leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Southern Kaduna have sensitized members on the importance of peaceful coexistence and collaboration with security agencies.

The meeting, held in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area, brought together Fulani leaders from across the eight local governments in the zone. Discussions focused on addressing insecurity and strengthening community relations.

Alhaji Mato Yahaya, MACBAN’s Southern Kaduna Zonal Chairman, emphasized the urgency of tackling security challenges in the area.

“We cannot stand idly by and allow insecurity to take firm root in our communities. Therefore, I urge us all to be frank in our submissions and suggest practical ways of resolving the security problems facing us,” he stated.

Yahaya also encouraged participants to engage in activities that promote harmony between Fulani communities and other residents

Kaduna State MACBAN Chairman, Alhaji Abdulhamid Albarka, explained that the gathering aimed to collect input from local leaders to share with security operatives. He urged Fulani leaders to help identify criminal elements within their communities to prevent collective suspicion.

“If we don’t fish them out, they will give us a bad name and we don’t want that at all,” Albarka remarked.

Alhaji Haruna Tugga, the National Organising Secretary of MACBAN and a native of the zone, reaffirmed the association’s commitment to preserving the relative peace in Southern Kaduna.

Tugga called on community leaders to report suspicious activities promptly and appealed to the media for accurate and balanced reporting on security matters.

Other speakers highlighted the importance of herders seeking farmers’ permission before grazing on harvested farmland.

The meeting concluded with a resolve to strengthen partnerships with security agencies and foster dialogue among communities.
