Plateau Governor Approves Compensation for Long-Serving College Staff, Earns 2027 Endorsement

Jos, Plateau State – In a significant move, Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has announced the approval of compensation for hundreds of staff at state tertiary institutions who were previously employed on an ad-hoc basis for over a decade.

The Governor made the announcement during a meeting with the staff at the Victoria Gowon Hall, New Government House, Little Rayfield. He described the previous treatment of the employees as "unjust," noting that it was immoral to keep staff in ad-hoc roles for over ten years without a pathway to permanent employment.

“When our administration came in, we discovered last-minute recruitments had been made, yet none of the long-serving ad-hoc staff were included,” Governor Mutfwang stated. “We instituted a council to properly assess qualifications and fitness for the roles. Now, having reviewed the records, we believe the years you have dedicated to these institutions should not only be recognized but also compensated.”

The Governor confirmed that funds have been approved for this compensation, with the specific details to be communicated to the staff through their respective institutions.

Earlier, the State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Kachallom Gang, praised the Governor for his leadership and commitment to resolving longstanding issues, describing him as a “father in thoughts and deeds.”

The announcement was met with enthusiastic approval from the staff. Speaking on their behalf, Chairman Mr. J. Sati called it the happiest day of their lives.

“Governor Mutfwang’s pronouncement will completely change our lives and the lives of our families,” Sati said. “In light of this compassionate and decisive action, we have unanimously decided to endorse him for a second term in 2027.”
