Nasarawa South Group Urges APC Chieftain Ahmed Tukur to Run for Governor in 2027

An interest group, the Architect Shehu Ahmed Tukur (ASAT) Vanguard, has called on All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Ahmed Tukur to contest the 2027 governorship election in Nasarawa State.

The appeal was made during a "call to serve" rally on Saturday in Lafia, organized by the group which comprises members from the five Local Government Areas of the Nasarawa South Senatorial District.

Abdullahi Yanmani, Director General of the ASAT Vanguard, stated the rally was convened due to Tukur's exceptional leadership qualities and long-standing commitment to the state's development since its creation in 1996.

He cited Tukur's extensive experience, having worked with all former military administrators and civilian governors in the state. Yanmani also highlighted Tukur's instrumental role in designing and building key state projects, including the Government House, Presidential Lodge, modern markets, and bus terminals in Lafia and Karu.

"His deep connection with the grassroots, humility, and warm appeal have endeared him to our hearts," Yanmani said. "We see in him a leader who listens, understands our struggles, and genuinely seeks our uplift."

Coordinators from the five LGAs of the senatorial district—Umar Rilwan-Talba (Awe), Yahaya Mirror (Doma), and Adamu Oyiko (Obi)—echoed the call. They emphasized that Tukur's wealth of experience is needed to build upon the legacy projects of Governor Abdullahi Sule's administration, offering residents hope for continued development. (NAN)
