Jema'a LG Chairman Lauded for Education Sector Revamp

The State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Jema'a Local Government Area has commended its Executive Chairman, Honourable Peter Tanko Dogara, for what it describes as a "remarkable transformation" of the education sector within his first year in office.

The commendation was delivered by the Education Secretary, Mr. Tyen Dogara Audu, during a meeting with department heads in Kafanchan on Tuesday.

In his address, Audu outlined a series of achievements under Dogara's administration, highlighting significant strides in staff welfare, infrastructure, and operational efficiency.

A key achievement was the resolution of long-standing staff grievances. "Upon assuming office, one of his first actions was to implement promotions for staff members who had been overdue for many years," Audu stated. He also confirmed the implementation of the New National Minimum Wage for local teachers.

Infrastructure projects completed within the year include the renovation of four classrooms and an office at Model Primary School Zankan and the construction of a new block of two classrooms at Universal Basic Primary School Ngaskiya. A completely new standard primary school was also established and commissioned in Fido.

To improve oversight, the chairman refurbished the official Hilux vehicle for the Education Secretary and five departmental motorcycles, all of which had been non-operational for years.

The administration also revived extracurricular activities, sponsoring the local primary school sports team to a second-place finish in a competition in Jigawa State and organizing the 2025 Children's Day celebration
