Town Hall Meeting sets Development Agenda for Jama'a LG.

Kafanchan – The Executive Chairman of Jema’a Local Government Area, Mr. Peter Tanko, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to an inclusive government driven by the needs of the people.

Speaking at a town hall meeting and citizenship engagement held in Kafanchan, Tanko pledged to ensure that community voices directly shape development priorities, aligning with Governor Uba Sani’s SUSTAIN Agenda.

Reflecting on his nine months in office, the Chairman stated that his administration has focused on laying a foundation for inclusive growth. He highlighted several key projects, including

· Electrification works in Unguwan Jibrin, Golkofa, and Gada Biyu.

· Renovation of schools in Unguwan Mission, Unguwan Madaki, Unguwan Lamba, Ngaskiya, and Zankan.

· Renovation of the council Secretariat

“We have also secured employment and university admission for 30 of our citizens at the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi,” Tanko added. “In the same vein, we have provided start-up support for nearly 1,000 graduates of the Jennifer Etuh Foundation skill acquisition programme.”

He thanked the people of Jema’a for their support, noting that community partnership has been critical to the progress achieved so far.

Earlier, the council's Director of Budget, Mr. John Samson, explained that the meeting aimed to gather documented community priorities to form an integral part of the 2026 budget proposal.

The event brought together traditional rulers, religious leaders, women, and youth groups for an interactive session. Stakeholders freely expressed their views, raised concerns, and suggested projects for the upcoming budget.

A key highlight was the formal presentation of the Jema'a Community Development Charter to the Chairman. The document, compiled on behalf of the council's 12 wards, will serve as a direct guide for the Local Government’s budget planning process
