Commissioner of Education Honored for Building Mosque to Foster Peace

The Inter-Religious Youth Organization of Nigeria has inducted the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Education, Dr. John D.W. Mamman, into its Hall of Fame for his exceptional contributions to interfaith peace and unity.

The honor specifically recognizes Dr. Mamman’s initiative to fund and build a mosque for the Muslim community in his hometown of Dari, despite being a Christian himself. This act has been widely praised as a powerful symbol of religious tolerance and harmony, strengthening bonds within the community.

During the induction ceremony, the leader of the delegation, Comrade Mohammed Taofeeq, explained that the organization—comprising both Christian and Muslim youth—seeks to celebrate individuals who actively bridge religious divides. He described Dr. Mamman's gesture as a "rare and inspiring example of leadership that puts humanity above religious differences.

Responding, Commissioner Mamman expressed his gratitude for the recognition. He reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to supporting initiatives that promote mutual respect, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among all communities in Nasarawa State.
