
3 Division Celebrates New Majors, GOC Urges Continued Dedication

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, Major General EF Oyinlola, has charged eight newly promoted Majors to remain disciplined and lead by example as they take on greater responsibilities. The charge was given during a colorful investiture ceremony held at the Rhino Officers’ Mess on Tuesday, 16 September 2025.
In a statement by the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the event was attended by division commanders, staff officers, and the families of the promoted officers, marking a significant milestone in their careers.
Major General Oyinlola, who also commands Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), congratulated the officers on their well-deserved elevation. “Your promotion to this enviable rank testifies to your hard work, leadership qualities, and the trust reposed in you by the Nigerian Army,” he stated.
He emphasized the increased responsibilities that come with the rank of Major, urging them to be exemplary leaders in their respective formations. The GOC also acknowledged the crucial support of military families, noting, “Our families are our backbone. I commend their strength for holding the home front while we serve across the country.”
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Major DD Mshelia expressed profound gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General OO Oluyede, for the promotion. He pledged the officers' unwavering dedication to exceeding the expectations of their new rank.
Major Mshelia also thanked the GOC for his exemplary leadership and mentorship, as well as the commanders and senior officers for their guidance throughout their careers.
The ceremony featured the formal decoration of the new Majors and addresses offering guidance for their future roles.
