Taraba APC stalwart secures release of 15 inmates at birthday •Gov. Kefas eulogize celebrant at 60

From Nick Yashi, Jalingo

A former governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba, Chief David Sabo Kente, has  settled the fines of 15 inmates who could not afford the fines, which eventually led to their release.

Kente, who made this gesture during the celebration of his 60th birthday in Wukari, also visited other places including Mecaparson Primary School, Ifayima Orphanage, Wukari Teaching Hospital and CRCN health center where he made generous donations.

Kente also released over N1 million for the transportation of the inmates to their various destinations and also provided financial support to the places he visited.

Meanwhile, Governor Agbu Kefas, has extolled the virtues of Chief David Sabo Kente, on his 60th birthday anniversary, while also encouraging him to continue to leave a lasting legacy on the future generation.

Speaking at the Christian Reformed Church in Nations (CRCN), Kenkeso, Wukari on Sunday, Kefas encouraged Kente to oit his trust in God.

The governor stated: "Life is all about impact. I want to encourage you to continue to make impact as a family. A good man leaves an inheritance to his children. Impact, legacy is what you will leave for your children. Deepen your relationship with God.

"At 60 you have gathered a wealth of experience. It is time for you to mentor, guide and support the future generation. Titus 2:2-3 says older men should teach and guide the younger ones.

"Remain committed to God's purpose. No matter the age, there is work to be done".

The governor then challenged the celebrant to donate a land for a General hospital in Wukari which would be named  after him.

Speaking shortly in an interview, the celebrant, Chief David Sabo Kente said his birthday was always a unique occasion because it offers him the opportunity to take stock and reflect on his life as well as to do more for humanity.

According to him, his people are his top priority and he will always identify with them in whatever situation they may have found themselves as he is ever ready at anytime to initiate and come up with programmes that are beneficial to them.
