SKaid Offers Free Medical Outreach in Kagarko LGA
By Abubakar Labaran
In its ongoing efforts to support Southern Kaduna communities, SKaid, a non-governmental organization, has launched a free medical outreach in Kubacha, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The initiative aims to provide healthcare services to thousands of residents, addressing various medical needs.
The two-day outreach, held at the Kaduna State Primary Health Care Centre in Kubacha, saw an impressive turnout, with over 500 people registered by noon on the first day. SKaid’s Executive Director, Mr. Bello Bisalla, stated that the organization aims to treat over 1,000 individuals for various ailments, distribute medicines, and provide medicated eyeglasses. Some patients will also undergo minor and major surgeries.
Bisalla emphasized that cases requiring advanced care beyond the outreach’s capacity would be referred to specialized facilities. He reiterated SKaid’s mission to empower Southern Kaduna indigenes by creating opportunities for personal and community development. The NGO is committed to improving quality of life through sustainable, community-based projects.
The outreach is part of SKaid’s broader initiative to prioritize preventive care, access to treatment, and health education. Bisalla highlighted the organization’s belief that everyone deserves access to essential healthcare, regardless of socio-economic status. The program’s first phase targets five local governments in Southern Kaduna, with Zangon Kataf and Kagarko already benefiting.
Kagarko Local Government Chairman, Honourable Muyideen Abdullahi Umar, commended SKaid for complementing the state government’s efforts to deliver quality healthcare. Represented by Councillor Saul Bayero, he praised Southern Kaduna stakeholders for funding the initiative, which has brought relief to many unable to afford medical care.
Beneficiaries, including Alhaji Musa and Rhoda Bitrus, expressed gratitude for the free treatment, surgeries, and medications. They urged the government to collaborate with organizations willing to support such initiatives, emphasizing the rarity of such generous gestures.
SKaid’s outreach underscores its commitment to fostering healthier, more resilient communities in Southern Kaduna.
