Hon. Tunga Assumes Leadership at Ministry of Lands and Urban Development, Pledges Sustainable Development and Revenue Growth

A new era commenced at the Ministry of Lands and Urban Development as Hon. Umar Tanko Tunga officially assumed office, vowing to prioritize sustainable development and bolster revenue generation for the state. 

The handover ceremony, attended by a host of All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders and supporters from Awe Local Government Area, marked Tunga’s formal assumption in office as Commissioner. 

In his address, he underscored the necessity of collaborating with the Nasarawa Geographic Information Service (NAGIS) to surpass the 2025 revenue goal and formulate a robust master plan to guide the state’s urban development.  

Tunga expressed deep appreciation to the Governor for entrusting him with the mandate to oversee land administration, acknowledging the ministry’s pivotal role as a revenue-generating entity.

 He further called for unity among staff and management to fulfill the ministry’s objectives, stating,   "Achieving our targets demands collective commitment and innovative strategies.”

Permanent Secretary ESV Khalid Adamu, while welcoming the new commissioner, reiterated the ministry’s ambitious revenue targets and emphasized the urgency of inter-agency collaboration.

 Adamu lamented the absence of an updated master plan for urban areas in over a decade, terming it "a critical gap in sustainable planning." He assured Tunga of the ministry’s unrelenting support in addressing these challenges.  

As the new helmsman, Tunga’s key priorities include finalizing a modernized master plan, optimizing revenue streams, and advancing eco-friendly urban development initiatives. With his track record of leadership and the backing of the ministry’s workforce, people of Nasarawa State anticipate transformative progress in land administration and urban development sectors under his stewardship.
