Governor Mutfwang Swears in 5 New Commissioners, Inaugurates Tertiary Institutions' Governing Councils

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has sworn in five newly appointed commissioners and inaugurated the governing councils of tertiary institutions in the state. The ceremony, held at the Victoria Gowon Hall, marked a significant milestone in the governor's administration, which has been in office for 20 months.

Governor Mutfwang emphasized the importance of good governance, efficiency, and accountability, stating that the new appointees were carefully selected based on their track records of excellence, integrity, and dedication to public service. He charged the commissioners to leverage their wealth of experience and expertise to drive the success of his "The Time is Now" administration. The governor also urged them to pursue the administration's vision with passion, efficiency, and an unwavering commitment to service delivery

In his address, Governor Mutfwang congratulated the chairmen and members of the governing councils of tertiary institutions, tasking them with spearheading much-needed reforms in the state's higher education sector. He highlighted the critical role of education in the state's development agenda and called on the council members to reposition tertiary institutions to equip the youth with the skills and knowledge needed to compete globally.

The governor reiterated his administration's commitment to peace and security, infrastructural development, effective healthcare services, education, and good governance. He encouraged the new appointees to introduce innovative ideas that would accelerate the state's progress and leave a lasting impact on its people.

Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated chairmen and members of the governing councils, Prof. William Qurix, Chairman of the Plateau State University Board, described their appointments as a milestone in the state's development. He assured that the councils would focus on creating "the education of the future" rather than just "the future of education."

The new commissioners were assigned various portfolios, including Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, a former Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, who was posted to the Ministry of Information and Communication. Other appointments include Arc. Sylvanus Dongtoe (Housing and Urban Development), Cornelius Doeyok (Tourism, Culture, and Hospitality), Dr. Nicholas Bamnong (Health), and Sunday Alex Akpa (Ministry of Livestock Development, Veterinary Services, and Fisheries). Additionally, some commissioners experienced reshuffling, with Musa Ashoms moving from Information to Youths and Sports.

The event underscored Governor Mutfwang's commitment to strengthening governance and driving development across Plateau State.
