SDGs Office Launches Another Acquisition Programme

In its continued effort to equip young women in the state with desirable skills, the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is set to enroll the third batch of its skills acquisition programme. The three-month programme aims to teach trainees facial makeup and gele-tying skills.

According to Abubakar Murtala Mohammad, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on SDGs, represented by Mr. Ahmed Tsaku, Head of Technical, the programme aligns with Governor Abdullahi A Sule's administration policy to equip youths with necessary skills for entrepreneurship and employability, ultimately eradicating poverty. Mohammad commended the Governor for supporting the programme, highlighting the robust starter packs provided to trainees.

Mohammad urged trainees to commit to the programme, warning that truancy and negative tendencies would not be tolerated. Those found wanting would be exited from the programme.

The SDGs office has trained over 50 young women in various skills acquisition programmes since 2022, providing starter packs to kick-start their businesses. Some graduates have already established businesses in Lafia and its environs.¹
